About the Artist

Julie Smith

Julie has sold many of her works of art throughout the United States and in several foreign countries.  Her paintings are known for their depth, luminosity and intense color.

Julie Smith works in a local bank and paints in her spare time.  She had an art scholarship to Interlochen and has studied privately with the late James Clinton Mumby, the most fantastic artist she has ever known.  Julie started drawing when she was 5 years old and her subject material  was horses.  Her artistic preference is working in oils and acrylics and cranking up the rock music while she is painting.  

She has been the president of the POSA art club and an active member in the Orion Art Center.  Julie has displayed her works at many art shows and art fairs in and out of Michigan and has also been a member of two co-op galleries.. She has received so many awards for her work it is hard to count and list them all.

A bit of advice from Julie for budding artists:  "Find a good teacher and keep at it all the time.  Keep working on your art every day.  Take the time.  Remember housework can wait.  I wish I would have done that years ago." ~quoted from an Oakland Press article that was done on Julie
